In loving memory of my big brother, PFC Douglas Roy Lueck who was born in Glencoe, MN on August 17, 1946 and is pictured above on the left side of the helicopter. He escaped the Vietnam war on October 2, 1966 at the young age of 20 and went to his permanent home in heaven.

He was my hero. I never had to worry about anyone picking on me, his youngest sister. He was a caring brother and my best friend. Dougie stood up for those who couldn't stand up for themselves.

When he got out of the service, he wanted to go back to Colorado where he had been stationed before heading to Vietnam and be a game warden. He loved the outdoors and all animals.

A HAPPY MEMORY
One of my fondest memories of Dougie was while growing up we had a club called the "Wolfgang". My dad built in the peak of our garage a small cubby where Dougie, my sister, Sally, the neighbor girl, Teresa and I could crowd into. There we laid down the ground rules for our club and would plan out the day, which many times consisted of marching in line up and down the sidewalk like a soldier. Dougie would yell, "Halt" and we would stop. Then we'd stamp one foot and pivet a half turn and march the other way. Like wolves, we would then howl at the top of our lungs to let each other know in secret what we wanted. It always makes me smile to think what the neighbors must have thought!
I wonder if when Dougie was drafted and he had to march in boot camp if he ever flashed back to us 4 kids marching up and down that sidewalk in front of our house. If only the US Army would have checked out his experience, he could have made Sergeant! I mean, he was an experienced soldier!!
I love you, Dougie and can't wait to see you again. You will always be my hero.

Your 1 or 2 personal photos will be added here with a short paragraph about your loved one. All photos will be in alphabetical order instead of by the date they went home to heaven. This is a page to honor their memory and show the blessing they were to you. Please keep this in mind when you write your short paragraph. Tell us a happy memory God allowed you to share. Don't let Satan bring you down so you remember the pain of their death. Sooner remember the smiles you shared and if the tears flow. as they did when I wrote my above paragraph, let them flow. It's God's way of reminding you of the love you were allowed to share.

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12
